Derrick Mason Reports To Ravens Camp

In an interesting move this morning, retired WR Derrick Mason was at the Ravens training camp facility supposedly to meet with GM Ozzie Newsome. There is a buzz going around that Mason was "packed" as if he were coming to this camp as something other than just a spectator. Could he have already reconsidered his recent retirement? UPDATE:

I feel like this is an episode of Unsolved Mysteries where all of a sudden there is a break in the case. Several credible news services, including my jagoff buddies over at McDaniel College in Maryland, report that Derrick Mason has informed the Ravens that he indeed does intend to play football in 2009.

Now, there has been no confirmation that he still wants to play for the Ravens or that he has any demands whatsoever at this point. He left the facility after a brief statement was made to those covering the beat over there. Mason is expected to report as soon as Sunday night back to Ravens camp and will participate in Monday practices.

Even with Mason coming back I think the Ravens could use another veteran WR and there are plenty out there to choose from. But, it seems they were not impressed by any of the players they tried out over the past few weeks in seeking a replacement for Mason.
