Roundup 8/2

WHAT A SHOCKER!

Brandon Marshall pulled up lame during a pass catching drill today. He left the field immediately and received treatment for what is supposedly a hamstring injury. I am calling this one out right now. There is no injury, no way Jose. Did you ever notice how many star players who come into training camp complaining about their current contract status wind up getting injured very early on? No you say? Well than you just aren't paying attention and you're damn lucky to be reading somebody who is. Don't expect much out of Marshall while he "recovers" from his bum hammy which just may be an on and off thing for the entire length of training camp. But, don't believe that it will affect him whatsoever once the regular season bell rings. Dr. Mans is predicting a miracle recovery just before the season starts.

RECEIVER HELP WANTED?

The Chiefs are going to work out free agent WR D.J. Hackett on Monday. This may be just a scouting kind of thing and not an indication that the team is truly in the market for another wideout. Though with nothing but spare parts behind Dwayne Bowe, the team probably could use an upgrade in talent to assist their new franchise QB Matt Cassel.

OFFENSIVE GURU SAUNDERS JOINING RAVENS

The Ravens are quickly becoming one of my favorite teams. I just love what they are doing over there in terms of talent on the field, front office personnel and coaching staff. The team is about to announce that offensive guru Al Saunders will join the staff in a consultant role. Evidently, Saunders has been hanging out in team meetings and talking with both players and coaches this past week. With Cam Cameron entrenched as the offensive coordinator, having Saunders in the mix perhaps to tutor some of the current WR's is nothing short of genius. This is an offense to watch and one that I think contains several big time fantasy sleepers.
