Jets Inquire About Brandon Marshall

The Jets have made contact with the Denver Broncos concerning disgruntled WR Brandon Marshall. Contact was made late in the day on Tuesday and talks were very casual in nature.

But my source inside the Jets organization paints an entirely different picture. The Jets front office is poised to make a big splash in acquiring a big play WR and will do so in any means necessary. There have been numerous discussions involving GM Mike Tannenbaum, head coach Rex Ryan and offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer about how to upgrade the WR position.

The options laid out clearly have Brandon Marshall as the #1 target at this point. A few weeks ago, Plaxico Burress was their main target until his indictment on gun charges blew up that possibility. Now the Jets are hoping to land a veteran WR in a trade with Marshall, Deion Branch and Santana Moss having been discussed. If a trade does not work out, the team will look into signing one of the free agents still available with Marvin Harrison being at the top of that list.

It has been made perfectly clear to me though that the Jets will indeed be upgrading their WR position within the next couple of weeks. David Clowney is leading the way for the WR2 role, but nobody in the organization sounds very enthused about that scenario.
