Matt Cassel Likely To Miss Week 1

Matt Cassel suffered a significant knee injury in the Chiefs 14-10 loss to the Seahawks on Saturday. The injury is to his right knee specifically the MCL. It is reportedly not torn but the MCL is definitely sprained. There are conflicting rumors about whether it is a grade 1 or 2 sprain, which would be different timetables altogether for his recovery.

As of right now, Cassel is out 2-4 weeks, meaning he will miss the start of the regular season. Yahoo reports that Tyler Thigpen will start while Cassel is injured but I wouldn't rule out Brodie Croyle just yet. Keep it tuned here for updates on Cassel as this story develops.
