Kyle Orton's Finger Worse Than Originally Thought

Seems like the new Broncos regime is taking a page from their old bosses with the Patriots in not disclosing ANYTHING regarding injuries. Fantasy Football Search has learned that Orton's finger had to be popped back into place after hitting it on a helmet during the Broncos game against the Bears last week. The bone actually penetrated the skin at the knuckle, a sickening thought to say the least. Team trainers popped it back into place on site, as the team downplayed the injury as just a laceration.

Orton is out for the team final preseason game that is for sure. He spoke to reporters yesterday stating he would "work as hard as I can" to be ready by week 1. He won't be. This means that rookie Tom Brandstater will be the Broncos starting QB to begin the season.

Brandstater is a big, tough kid who played in a good pro-style offense at Fresno St. He has good accuracy but doesn't quite have the arm strength to wing it downfield. He's had mechanical issues during his time at Fresno St. at maybe NFL coaches can get him to use his legs more and that would help his arm strength. Brandstater was a project for the Josh McDaniels regime, but it appears he's going to get a quick taste of NFL life right off the bat.
