First of all I want to give out a great big THANK YOU to all who listened to the debut of Fantasy Football Tonight, the official podcast of Fantasy Football Search. KENDRA'S HUSBAND INJURED
So what if Hank Baskett went down with a knee injury in today's practice? Well usually I might agree with that but now it gives me the authority to run a totally appropriate picture of Baskett's wife, Kendra. In case some of you actually do care on Hank's well being, he is awaiting results from an MRI to determine the full extent of his injury. He is buried in the Eagles WR rotation now anyways and may have a lot more time on his hands to spend with his pregnant spouse when final cuts are announced.
JETS NOT TRADING THOMAS JONES
Please trust me when I stress to you guys that the Jets have no intentions of trading starting RB Thomas Jones. This is nothing more that a flat out rumor that was gotten out of control earlier today. I have in straight from the Jets organization that they have never been in any type of discussions about Thomas Jones with any team. The Jets will employ a 3 headed RB monster this year with Jones, Leon Washington and rookie Shonn Greene. All 3 have fantasy potential and could be very productive running behind what is the best offensive line in the NFL.
KICKER NEWS
Tampa Bay kicker Matt Bryant is nursing a sore right hamstring which is causing him significant pain and limiting him in his fierce competition with Mike Nugent. Bryant is trying to battle through, but he is very slowly losing his job to Nugent. In today's practice, even when he made 3 straight field goal attempts, Bryant left the field with his head shaking and before throwing his helmet and walking to the locker room. Nugent will win this job and be a pretty decent fantasy sleeper this season.
Green Bay kicker Mason Crosby is having a legendary poor training camp. Those covering the Packers camp say that Crosby at times looks like he has never kicked a football before. Several times he has failed to get any elevation on the ball, reminiscent of a scene from an underrated movie Necessary Roughness. The problem seems to be a true slice when the ball comes off of his foot. Special teams coaches are working very hard to correct this issue with Crosby but the team may have to bring in a kicker soon if the problem doesn't get cured soon.
