Panthers WR Steve Smith Carted Off Field

All-Pro WR Steve Smith was carted off of the practice field after a nasty collision with defensive back Chris Gamble. The two got tied up going for a ball and Smith fell hard to the ground and suffered an injury to his right arm. It is not yet clear if it is his wrist or possibly his shoulder that got injured on the fall. He was screaming in pain right away and coaches and fellow players had to calm him down until the cart got to him.

The training staff is working on him now and we'll provide more details as they become available.


***UPDATE***

Steve Smith suffered an injured right shoulder in the collision with Chris Gamble. He is being taken for X-rays and possibly further testing soon. Panthers beat reporters tell me that it doesn't look good for the standout WR and that he will certainly miss some if not all preseason games.
