Hasselbeck's Elbow Sore
Slow news day so far but I can't help but feel that this is the calm before the storm. Reports out of Seattle are that Matt Hasselbeck has a sore throwing elbow. A Tacoma Tribune article states that while Hasselbeck has been icing his arm every day after camp, it is no big deal and is more of a precaution.
But my on the spot reporter is saying something a little different. Evidently, Hasselbeck's elbow is of concern and for multiple reasons. He started out camp on fire, tossing passes all over the place and looking quite good in fact. The icing started a few days after the start of camp around the same time his performance dropped. All of a sudden, Hasselbeck was getting picked over and over again and even took himself out of practice briefly and had Seneca Wallace finish up with the first team.
My people are telling me that Hasselbeck's throwing motion is all out of whack right now. He isn't using his lower half at all and must be putting much more stress on his arm and specifically that elbow as a result. The speculation over there is that maybe his back still isn't 100% or he is possibly still worried about letting it fly and thus his mechanics are all out of sorts.
Either way, this is a situation to keep monitoring. Hasselbeck is a consistent fantasy performer when healthy and with a passionate T.J. Houshmandzadeh now to throw to, he could have a real good bounce back season. Or, he could hurt himself again and be useless to all who draft him. We at Fantasy Football Search will be monitoring his progress and will relay any and all information right back here.
