Roundup 8/8
KEEP AN EYE ON...
Jake Allen - WR -- Packers -- This kid is putting on a hell of a show up at Packers camp lately. I must admit that I hadn't even heard of him until he crept up in my notes two days in a row this week for making some outstanding plays. Allen has the size (6'4" - 195 lbs.) and speed to play at a big time level. He comes from a small division III school (Mississippi College) and was on the practice squad for awhile last season. He has the look of a natural NFL WR and if he doesn't stick with Green Bay when camp breaks, I would bet that he is scooped right up by a team in need of a playmaking WR.
INJURED
DeShawn Wynn banged up his knee in practice late on Thursday and was unavailable for the teams scheduled intersquad scrimmage tonight. The team is taking some precaution with Wynn right now as they have been most impressed with his dedication this offseason and his performance during camp so far. Many believe that Wynn will be listed ahead of Brandon Jackson on the teams depth chart when it premiers in a few weeks. They will give him a couple of days to see how the knee responds but if it is still bad at that point they will send him for an MRI.
Mike Walker, the Jaguars WR and David Garrard's new favorite target got rolled up on in tonight's scrimmage and sustained a lower leg injury. It appears to be an ankle injury and not a knee which is very good news for the Jags offense.
STILL WAITING...
Drew Rosenhaus has sent out yet another Twitter message informing us that Edgerrin James is still on the open market and in great shape. The problem is that Rosenhaus and James are still seeking starter like money and length of contract which is just impossible at this point. If James wants to play football this year or ever again for that matter he had better be willing to accept a secondary role on a team that can use some depth in the backfield.
